Exhibition Opening

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

We picked up another member of the artists group and drove to Frankfurt to attend the 6pm reception at the Paracelsus school where we are exhibiting. We arrived about 6:15 and were surprised at how many people were already there.

Since the director had asked if I would take a few shots, I had brought my camera equipment. After finding a place to unpack, I started by walking around to admire everyone’s work. We had also brought brochures that I had printed, so Wolf put the holder on the wall near my photos.

I spent some time going through the crowd snapping random photos. I felt a hand on my arm and looked up to see a woman with my brochure asking if I was the photographer. When I said yes, she excitedly told me how much she liked my photos. That happened to me several times during the evening with people asking if they could contact me about purchasing some. I had hoped to gain feedback on my photos, and hearing all the wonderful comments really made my evening.

Another guest with a brochure.

I had taken around fifty brochures with, thinking it would probably be too many. They were almost gone when I left.

We thanked the director for a wonderful evening and the opportunity to exhibit our work. The exhibition will be in place for three months.

A New Family Addition

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We were at the animal shelter playing with the cats when a handsome fellow caught our eye. He was found, the lady told us, and brought to the shelter. His owners turned up to claim him, but refused to reimburse the shelter the 15 euro that they had spent to de-worm him. They signed away their rights, and left him.

The 8 month old Björn came home with us and was soon renamed Orion. In the two weeks he’s been here, he’s wormed his way into our hearts and our bed along with the rest of  our crew.

Welcome home Orion.

Exhibition in Frankfurt

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Once a month, I meet a wonderful group of artists in a restaurant in Nassau to “talk shop” and anything of interest. In February, we met with the director of the Paracelsus school in Frankfurt to discuss exhibiting our work.

Those of us who decided to exhibit met in Frankfurt today to install our artwork in preparation of a reception to be given on March 28 at 6pm.

After hanging the eight photographs I brought, I took a minute to take a few photos of them.

We have, of course, been invited to the reception and look forward to attending.
