Finding your niche in photography can be trying at times. There are some types of photography that don’t interest me; therefore, I know I will not give my best. There are other types that I think I would be good at, but that don’t interest me, so I know I will not give my best. There are other types that I truly enjoy doing and do give my best.
It’s those types that I decided it was time to focus upon.
I love attending art festivals and always wondered how it would be to be a participant and not just a potential client. So, I decided to do what anyone else would do: I went to Yahoo Groups and found a group devoted to art festivals. And did I learn a lot!
And, so it begins…my foray into becoming an art festival artist.
My first wake up call was the lack of equipment here in Germany. I was able to find a tent of the same brand used by many artists in the US – in the Netherlands. Shipping, of course, was expensive but, with a super nice representative and a 20% discount, I was sold.
So, now I have a tent with four walls and have to figure out how to hang framed photographs.
The walls – at least the type I wanted to be able to hang my photographs – are not available in Europe. So, my husband, never one to walk away from a challenge, is amassing supplies to construct a suitable version of grids.
I’m sure I will have many other wake up calls before everything is finished…
